As a Short Sale Agent, I hear plenty of tales of real estate agents and attorneys that have come before me to help a home owner with a Short Sale or loan modification only to get the client to sign on the dotted line and then disappear into thin air. Hearing the names of these professionals, I know they are not scam artists collecting a buck and moving on. Well, maybe a few, but not the majority. These are professionals who live by the motto, “Don’t call until you have good news.” Well in the world of Short Sales, there isn’t always good news to share, but that doesn’t mean you don’t communicate with your client.
Can you imagine how frustrating it would be to be dealing with a real estate professional who is attempting to keep you out of foreclosure and you have to chase THEM to get an answer. Talk about the run around. You are running around in circles just to have a conversation with with the person you hired to represent you. That’s insanity.
I’ve been dealing with probably 1/100th of that frustration this week in dealing with a screwed up furniture order. I bought a new dining room table, china cabinet and area rug from a large furniture chain. I delayed the delivery of the table and cabinet until the rug could come in the same delivery. Well, the furniture’s been set up for two weeks now and the rug has been delivered twice. What’s wrong is they are sending me the wrong rug every time. I called the furniture store and told them I’d pick up the rug. Easy. I know what it looks like. I got the, “We’ll get back to you when we figure this out,” line. So I’ve been shopping for new rugs online since I’ve heard nothing and I need an area rug. I decided to try one more time before ordering one online. Well, I’ll be able to pick up my original rug Saturday. Gee. Why didn’t they call and tell me that? I’ve been trashing this furniture store all over town. I guess they were waiting for Saturday when they could say, ”It’s here.” Guess communication isn’t ‘their “thing.”
Just so you know, communication IS my thing. Heck, I was a Communication major in college. I know how important it is, as a Short Sale Agent to keep my clients and the cooperating agents that work with me, in the loop every step of the way. That’s how you build good client relationships and a solid reputation. So if you want to be kept in the dark about what’s happening with your Short Sale, hire another agent. Want to know what’s happening? Get in touch with me.
